"The Best Martial Art for Self-Defense: A Street Fight Showdown"

Updated: Mar 13

  1. Combat sambo :

I don't know if you saw fighters from dagestan and Russian fighters like Fedor emilianiko and khabib and so on... they have a certain strategy in grappling that is hard to understand, it's basically MMA in another words ,beacsuse they using small gloves too , but the most crazy part of that martial are is the takedowns, they have thousands of movements that is just impossible to deal with , I had one Russian coach explaining to me that all the takedowns we see that the dagestany fighters do is nothing compare to skill behind it, they have a good takedown and on the ground too ,basically is they teaching you the right way to takedown the opponent and to fall on the right position on the ground so you'll not get flipped over, in America there is no much of combat sambo unfortunately and I don't know why ,if there was then MMA would be completely different, I'm not saying that jiu-jitsu would fail but the skills you would've get with combat sambo would be completely different , the reason why in Russia including (dagestan ) such a strong people and good at fighting is beacause of their way of living ,my family is from dagestan so my dad was explaining to me growing up there on how is the air overthere is clean + the cold whether overthere is what mostly builds them being so strong ,all those ice baths they love to do , if you didn't know what cold water can do for you then you have to go on youtube and see what cold water really does for your body , is cleans all the blood inside your body+ builds your muscles and bust stress , if you can get used to a cold water then you cannot even understand how beneficial it is can be for you ,dagestan on the other hand is inside Russia , they have combat sambo too but on the higher level , dagestan has a story of itself of the war that happened there and where the dance lezginka came from which is the most beautiful and crazy dance you'll ever see ,if you able to dance at least 5 minutes not stop lezginka you'll be able to fight believe me, in America nobody knew what dagestan is until khabib showed up and showed the Americans the real style of MMA, nobody can understand their mindset and way of living is completely different, they train 3 times a day but it's not just a conditioning training like you have in the US, it's by their style is in the mountains which is beyond our imaginations, you may think that khabib or Islam are so great fighters but for dagestan not really, that's what my dad told that I couldn't believe, in dagestan there are such a wrestles that can grab you with one hand and slam you on the floor , the combat sambo overthere everybody does that so it's not something new, I remember my dad showed me one guy from his high school of the way he is training and his skills ,khabib will not survive with this guy one round, those people are real animals.

2. Boxing:

In a street fight you not expect to take the guy on the ground usually but to actually punch him to the face and finish him , or if it's like a fight in a bar , all you have to do is to use your hands, I'm not saying that a good takedown not going to work but it's just more realistic to punch someone that attacking you , boxing has a good defense and offense, believe me a good boxer can finish 2-3 guys in a street fight ,especially their footwork and movements are insane, their conditioning too is very tough , once you got a good footwork in a fight it will be really hard to actually try to punch or kick you ,beacsuse you know how to move around all the time with your head and defend your face ,not just that is the fact that you can get punches to the face too and be able to deal with that ,when you work on pads all the time in boxing your head becomes like a robot kinda ,it just clicks when it needs to click ,for example, if you put me as a cashier in the same restaurant for for at least a year ,ofcurse I'll know all the prices but not just that, your fingers and mind becomes one and works fast without even thinking twice ,like 1,2,3 give me your credit card and you good to go , same in boxing is clicks right away when someone trying to attack you ,your shoulders just moving by themselves without you even trying to do something, as bruce lee said : I'm not scared of a man who practiced 1000 kicks ,I'm scared of a man who practiced one kick 1,000,that makes more sense, I would rank boxing as number one for a street fight , the reason why I didn't do that beacause it has no takedown defence and offense, like in combat sambo a lot of the takedowns are similar to judo , believe me once your body becomes a takedown machine you can be more dangerous that a boxer ,from a boxer you can break your nose or getting knockout or break your teeth , you don't even understand what is the feeling of falling on the ground from experienced judoka or a wrestler, with moves like harai.goshi or O goshi you can break your back and your hips and will be paralyzed , judoka people especially practiced a lot on falling on the ground properly without causing damage, if you don't know so for sure you can break any Organ.

3. Muay thai:

muay thai as we know is a very brutal martial art and very dangerous that can cause a a serious injury , in muay thai there is 2 types of conditioning , the first one is a regular conditioning which is kicking+punching pads and also jumping rope and so on in order to have a high level of oxygen in a fight , sometimes its really hard to know if mma conditioning is harder than the muay thai one or the opposite, since in muay thai kicking pads isnt that easy as it sounds ,believe me just to warm up you gotta kick the pad 10 times non stop and you losing breath already, while in mma you gotta use ground and pound and wrestling which is the hardest part, in thailand the fighters running every morning 15km and then they coming back and keeping on training and do the other stuff , now the second part of the conditioning system is the bone conditioning , especially the known term '' shin conditioning'', unfortunately many fighters espesially in mma when they kicking the leg they breaking their ankles , mma on the other hand as a bad bone conditioning , in muay thai you giving low kicks non stop and the opponent is checking with the knee , and if the shin -bone isnt strong enough you can end your career in the worst case scenario , in muay thai they kicking the pads and heavy bags and the trees just for that to kill the nerves of the shin , but dont think that just kicking the heavy bag 10-20 times is enough, your shin should be red from kicking it at least 50-100 times a day as a beginner until youll feel the pain in the shin , the whole idea is here is the fact that the bone adapts to the mechanical stress you placing upon it which called the wollfs law , and then once it becomes so strong there is a connective tissue of the bone that covers that any time the bone grows ,70% of the bone tissue is calcium and the other 25-30% is water , but there is more details to that ... basically in muay thai they also kicking each other to the hips and the legs to be able to accept pain, beacause the whole round you just getting kicked and punched non stop, but why muay thai can be so effective for a street fight is beacause they can not just to cause serious injury but to kill someone ,if youll take a muay thai expert from one championship for example that they conditioned their shins all their life against a certain bully on the street , what do you think will happen? just from one kick to the face a good kick you can lose your memory or just not wake up anymore, but the reason why i put muay thai as number 3 and not 2 , is beacause in real street fight is always starts with the hands, no elbows, kicks or knees envolved with that, you never know you can be the best kicker , but imagine if you kick someone right now in a street fight and you with your girlfriend for example , and the guy catches your kick and you fall down, isnt embarasshing? ofcurse it is, for a guy who knows how to fight that is a real embarassment, but things happen, but to get angry that the worst thing you can do in a street fight and you can lose even if you know what to do, so dont be the guy who is going to learn self defence just to be able to fight someone or show up beacause then the karma will come...

4:Jiu-jitsu

Jiu jitsu now days became completely different than its was before , since the graicie family came to America and showed their skills at the ufc the jiu-jitsu spread around and became very messy with the movements and drills, there is almost no gyms today in America that teaching the real old style of the graicie family self-defense , and you don't have to go to mma gym to learn the grappling skills on the ground if you know the old style of grappling, beacsuse the old style involves mma too and same techniques ,dosent matter if you doing just grappling or ground and pound, back then it's was more like if you know jiu-jitsu then you know how to defend yourself on the ground if someone punching you and submit him ,or if you wanna take the back to rear naked choke you just know the system: the double leg+ mount control +taking the back, or if a 50 pound guy comes and attacks you then you'll be able to take him down even though you half of a size , jiu-jitsu build to defend bigger opponents than you ,now tell me how it's possible to defend someone bigger than you with using strength and losing energy? Isn't making sense and just not gonna work , so it's all about making the technique the right way and useful and not losing too much energy, today many gyms that teaches grappling they teaching grappling style that not really going to work against punches and kicks or defend bigger people than you , many gyms today they showing you in each class maybe 2-3 submission to drill on each other and then sparring that's it, well you will know whole of this submissions ,do you really think it can be useful without knowing it to the details and actually practice it? I know people who know only 10 submissions and can submit people who know 50 submissions, beacsuse those techniques are useful, that's why I'm always speaking about finding the right gym to the train ,beacsuse if you have a coach who isn't correcting you and proves you wrong then you creating a bad habit of a movement in your body which is hard to fix ,and it affects the nervous system response too , it's easier to teach someone who dosent know anything from the beginning than teaching someone who knows already, and I'm talking about myself unfortunately, I was one of them ,it's was very hard for me to transfer my old grappling style which would not give be the real tools and techniques to be a good athlete, only once I came to radical mma in nyc then everything changed, it's really was hard believe me guys , so you can do yourself a favor and better don't train at all and get bullied than going to any local gym near your house and get bad results which can cause a serious damage to your body too , in your spinal cord there is something that called a neuron and it sends signals to the muscles about a certain movement you doing and affects the nervous system by the way you doing that
